I’m Rory, an ASCHP-accredited Wellness Counsellor and Breathwork Practitioner based in Cape Town.
At the heart of my work is the belief that people aren’t problems to be solved — rather, they are human beings to be seen, heard, and met with understanding and support.
My path toward becoming a counsellor began through stark encounters with my own mental health. These experiences, whilst challenging at times, taught me to sit with uncertainty, discomfort, and change — inviting me into a world where I could sit with those facing similar circumstances.
I don’t offer quick-fix solutions, as mental health marketing often may allude to. What I do offer is a safe, collaborative, and grounded space where we can be honest about the hard parts, and curious about what’s possible.
A safe space where we can be honest about what’s hard, and curious about what’s possible.
Life can feel heavy sometimes — and so often, we try to carry it all on our own. Counselling offers a space where you don’t have to. It’s not about fixing what’s “wrong,” but about exploring what’s present: the thoughts, feelings, patterns, and questions that may feel too heavy to face alone.
Counselling creates room for reflection, regulation, and reconnection to yourself. It helps you hear with more clarity, make sense of what you’re holding, and notice what might be ready to shift. Sometimes, just having someone present — truly present — can make all the difference.
My approach to counselling is integrative, meaning that I draw on various counselling modalities and healing techniques, including breathwork (pranayama) and other somatic regulation techniques, where needed. This approach emphasises that the work we do together is shaped by your unique process and perspective — rather than a rigid framework. You’ll never be expected to explain everything or “get it right.” Instead, you’ll be invited into a safe space that honours your complexity, nuance, and unique point of view.
My practice is grounded in the belief that insight comes through presence, not pressure, and I look forward to being that presence for you.
